Local high school students are off to Nepal to help with an irrigation project and put out a call for knitted toques to take along for the villagers. My contribution: these two, bulky yarn on 6 mm double pointed needles, cast on 63 stitches, knit for 6 inches, then a 7pt decrease (k 7, k2T, pm, k2T, etc).... when done I continued the last three stitches into a long I-cord, then looped and knotted it to finish off.
